Hi Guys... Hope your all well...
Quick question... I have the following database:
Level PageID Title top_Id parent_id
1 1 test1 4 0
2 2 test2 4 1
2 3 test3 4 1
2 4 test4 4 1
3 5 sub2 4 2
3 6 sub3 4 2
3 7 sub3 4 2
Basically it prints out like this:
Level 1 : Jobs
Level 2 : Fianance
Level 2 : Exec
Level 2 : IT and Services
Level 2 : Wages
Level 2 : Test page2
Level 3 : Finance1
Level 3 : Child Page 1
Level 3 : IT 1
Level 3 : wages 1
Level 3 : tester 1
Level 3 : tester
Level 3 : wages 2
Level 3 : IT 2
Level 3 : Child Page 2
Level 3 : Finance2
What i want to be able to do is show all level 3 pages underneath level 2... A bit like a menu structure would work. I have played around and tried different things, but i am losing. any help would be very much welcomed or pointers to some tutorials would be great. Many thanks.
I have wrote the following code (ASP.Net VB) to get the basis of what i want to do:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Do While (dr.Read())
Select Case dr("level")
Case "1"
s = s & "Level 1 : " & dr("p_title") & ""
Case "2"
s = s & " Level 2 : " & dr("p_title") & ""
Case "3"
s = s & " Level 3 : " & dr("p_title") & ""
End Select
Loop
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I guess DataList has a FindControl() method. Isn't it ?
|
|
|
|
|
OnItemCommand event of your parent control use FindControl()
method to find child control..

For the current project I'm doing, I have to execute JavaScript from an ASP.NET Page, using C#...
Now, So far, the closest I've found is something like:
<br />
<input type="button" name="Button1" value="Button"><br />
id="Button1" onclick="doAlert()" /><br />
<br />
<br />
<script><br />
function doAlert()<br />
{<br />
alert("Message Here!");<br />
}<br />
</script><br />
</input>
Which I REALLY don't like, as I have to create a custom button...
What I want to know is if it's possible to do JavaScript on the OnClick event of a Button on the Code Behind (.cs) page, so it isn't easily viewable in the Source, and is also easier to work with?
Something Like...
<br />
protected void ImageButton1_Click(object sender, ImageClickEventArgs e)<br />
{<br />
DoJavaScript("alert:('Message Here!');");<br />
}<br />
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!

You have a custom button control and you want to register the javascript form server side Is that you want
Then just register your javascript in cutom control only
in PreRender or Render events

You can emit javascript to the page using Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScript() method. But this will be shown in the page source, it's not possible to hide it. Or you may try embedded web resources.

Hi,
We have developed website using ASP.NET,C#. But they are runtime errors and we got yellow pages.
So How do we catch Runtime errors and Log them?
please advice.
|
|
|
|
|
Do you not run your application in a microsoft development package i.e. VWD ot VS, usually you can debug in that
|
|
|
|
|
First you need to find which types of runtime error your website is getting if those are catchable put that code in try and catch block
and Where do you want to logg that error ? are you guys are creating text files for logging
Thanks and Regards
Sandeep

web.config files SHOULD help... Hide's those nasty error pages, makes it so you can't add .cs onto files (Admin.aspx.cs ftl...), and ALOT more

Well, a web.config file can stop runtime errors from displaying(And can possibly log them)

When any uncaught exception occurs, ASP.NET fires Application_Error event. Global.asax is having the event handler defined, you can use that. Or write a custom HTTP module and hook application error event. For logging, I have used log4net[^] - it's a great product.
Alternatively you can use web.config's custom error section. When any error occurs, it will be redirected to the specified page. But if the application is running in heavy traffic, this won't be a good approach.

The image button control has a Click event. Handle this and redirect to your HTML page.
