Hi, i have a database of one company. i need to build the forms dynamically by placing the controls dynamically based on fields from database. i need to place the controls dynamically and also to decide which control based on fields from database
I need everything should be on fly.
Why because i am asking this for, if we are doing for another company acccording to thier database i need to generate forms on fly. Like this, for company to company i dont want to design all the forms through vs 2005 IDE. it takes too much time by desigining 50 to 70 forms. Rather to do it on fly any method is there?
If any have any idea, regarding this, please welcome them.
Thank you

So in fact you need one empty form which you will fill depending ont the datasource.. That's pretty much possible, I don't understand what your question is. You told us what you want but you didn't really ask a question.
What you want is possible, no problem... drag a placeholder on your form and create all controls on the fly...
for example
<br />
Panel pnlFirst = new Panel();<br />
pnlFirst.ID = "pnlFirst";<br />
<br />
Textbox tbName = new Textbox();<br />
tbName.ID = "tbName";<br />
<br />
pnlFirst.Controls.Add(tbName);<br />
PlaceHolder1.Controls.Add(pnlFirst);<br />

Thanks for your reply. But it is paniful by writing this type of code for each and every control in .cs file. Rather than forming controls like this, it is better to go to IDE and drag and drop the controls.
But i need some other method to place a controls at run time including postions also. For example if i have a table1 in database which contains 10 fileds. i will design a screen to select a table and then select a control for each and every field and i need to give x and y -axis postions. etc.
But except for positining, reminaing part is easy.
But i am seeing for any other way to build any number of pages in small time. The screen which i designed should be useful for any database to build the pages.

I still dont understand what it is you are trying to achieve.
You want a whole form to be created at runtime but you want to do it without any code, how do you expect that to happen?
Its almost like you want a CMS but Im not sure, your posts are confusing

Yeah, agree... posts ARE confusing. You should create a datasource capable of keeping al controls and it's properties and then place the on a form (also in datasource) but without code... Hrmm... I think i'll be interested in the result, this must be a pretty nice web application... Let me know if you're done...
Ofcourse you solution is a pretty nice solution (it may be) but requires loads of code, the fact you want to develop this application with the least amount of effort is erhm... silly
|
|
|
|
|
Dont take it my question as silly one. Think it about this. share your ideas. It's a nice concept in one singel click the form to be generated dynamically.
As i say above, its not mandatory to use database, you can do it any way. But the final goal is we need to generate a forms dynamically.

First, I think your way of asking for help isn't really neat, we won't reply faster and every question on this forum requires an answer ASAP. Second, if you need complete details information how to work with a webservice, try the Webservice manual[^].
To help you now, right click your project in the solution explorer and choose Add Web Reference. A new window appears where you should enter the URL of your webservice. After you did that ways for Visual Studio to have completed 'reading' your webservice information and click OK. You're done... the proxy is generated for you

My question is based on Intranet application.
There is a machine by the name of machine1 where i hosted the intranet application.
Now from machine2 which is attached with machine1 intranet application(virtual directory), i am trying to access the intranet application aspx page.This is working very fine.Even there is no shared folder on machine1.Simply , the windows firewall is off.It is an annonymous access.
But when i try to access those pages programatically , it says Access denied.

We are using the "onkeypress" event in Javascript to determine when
the user hits a particular key. This works well unless an ASP.NET
control (such as a combobox) has focus. In this case the onkeypress
event does not fire. Unfortunately, our need is to handle key presses
when a control does have focus, so we are kind of stuck right now.
(Multiple key selection)
My question is, are we approaching this in the correct way? Is there
a better way to do this?

use the onkeypress event of the controls..

You can use the javascript and asp.net control on key press events.
However because users can turn javascript off in their browser then it may be better to use the server control onkeypress

Thanks for the answer...
i am using vs2005 for development and the problem is that combobox didn't offer the "onkeypress" event. i was successfully using this on select (html) tag and the javascript for my asp pages. but what should i do with my vs2005 combobox.

It totally depends upon project to project.
However, you may use it in the way you have specified....

I would suggest you can have a look at http://www.hotscripts.com/[^] under ASP.NET category.

I want to control the formatting of native type in my ASP.net application globally. For dates and times, I have used something similar to the following -
Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture.DateTimeFormat.ShortDatePattern = <config value="">
Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture.DateTimeFormat.FullDateTimePattern = <config value="">
I need a similar method for floats and doubles, as larger values get displayed in the exponent format (1E+...), which sometimes doesn't play nice with some javascript validators.
Thanks.

Basically, I have a menu button on START.ASPX that fires off a javascript postback w/ script redirecting the page to GOTO.ASPX.
But the click on the Nav button just posts back to START.ASPX.
Moreover, START's form tage is coded as
but when I view source in browser the action="START.aspx".
I need the form top runat server, so how can I have the Nav button correctly post to GOTO.aspx?
|
|
|
|
|
I believe runat=server form would always reset the form action to the same page.
