Two things....
First, use a more descriptive subject line, and secondly, try google for Office Interop...

I want to make sure I'm not an idiot. My boss wants me to deploy this asp site (2.0) to a webserver running IIS 6/asp.net 2.0. I created a folder via ftp and uploaded everything. I assume the folder has to be set to allow executables to run, because I got a nice error message saying so. I asked my boss to change the settings in IIS to run applications from this folder, but he acted as if it wasn't neccessary. Is it? How would you set up a .net app to run from a subdirectory without allowing applications to run from there? Thanks all.

What applications are you trying to run ?

Its just an asp 2.0 site.

Then you need to post your error message, I think your manager is right.

I placed my project in a folder called testsite so the url would be www.xyz.com\testsite\default.aspx.
The error is as follows:
The page cannot be displayed
You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed.

Please try the following:
Contact the Web site administrator if you believe this directory should allow execute access.

Well, the source code is on your server, so how will people decompile it ? If you're giving people the code to deploy, for example, if you sell a web based bug tracker, then the short answer is you can't, and the long answer is you can obsfucate the code, but not stop people decompiling it. Not without buying expensive native compilers.

And the very short answer is "Do you really think that you've done something new and innovative that you need to protect?". 99% of the time nobody is interested in your source...

I have a grid view with columns S.No.,Month Name,Total Meeting,Medical,Present.
Data for grid view is coming from database.
I need code in C# for "On clicking on medical column, a calendar will appears indicating the dates on which the student took medical leave.
For eg. if there is 3 in medical column for april month,on clicking medical column 3 dates will be marked.

Did you copy this question from your spec at work, or from a homework assignment ? In either case, we don't do that. We help people who try to do their own work/homework.

Sorry Ma'am,
Not Clear exactly what you want,
From where u r going to get dates from ?
try making medical column
a template column with a button on click of which .....
Database hit will occour and retrieve values for exact dates for which leaves are taken and then show those dates as selected in Calender control .........

How can i measure the time taken by events to execute in page life cycle.
|
|
|
|
|
By writing some timer code, I guess. Emitting the value of DateTime. Now several times to the page will be enough to tell you what's taking the longest.

hello
haven't done ASP.NET for sometime - just created a very simple hello world WebService, hit F5 but checking IIS, seems like the package is not automatically deployed to IIS under Vista?
But the webservice is shown on browser succssfull under link http://localhost:50362/Service1.asmx[^]
How does it work now? I remember back in .NET 1 it gets deployed to IIS folder automatically.

Linux has Mono, but I am pretty sure that only IE has ever supported activeX. The way forward is to use Java to embed applets in your web pages.

That would be a solution... I'll see if I can work it out.
Any more ideas would be appreciated too.
Thanks,

BTW: Doesn't .net have anything close to applets?

Yeah, you can create .NET dlls and consume in a web page. But, only in IE, I believe.
