Thank you anyhow. However, I have found the answer I am looking for from another forum, and from a programmer who is willing to share his knowledge and experience to help others to build on theirs.

Yeah, various MVP programs mean that some people will happily help folks who have no idea and no ability to do any sort of basic research. I'm sorry, when I want to support charity, I give money to world vision directly.
I do still recommend you admit to your client that you are not someone who should be paid for writing code, and that you spend some time reading books and learning some basics before you consider yourself worthy of any sort of fee. Perhaps my article on how to use google would be a good starting point.

Sorry, I am not going to raise to your bait to have an argument with you. I am sure in the past when you were stuck with a problem, you were pleased that someone helped you regardless of what the problem was. Charity is not about giving money, it also starts at home when you help others around!!! Try remembering that!!!

Hi
how to read an excel sheet using asp.net
thanks in adv
|
|
|
|
|
ASP.NET is a framework for writing web applications. It contains nothing that could be used to read Excel files.
ADO.NET (the framework for interacting with databases) may have some mechanism for dealing with Excel files.
You can also interop with Microsoft office through COM in order to access files.
Finally, Office 2007 documents use a new file format that consistes of XML files in a zipped file (change the .xlsx file extension to .zip and you can open it and see what's inside).

you can also use linq. read the file in from the disk or memory stream and you can query it.

LINQ knows how to decode an Excel file ?

Really clever this LINQ stuff, isn't it? I'm told it can bring world peace and stabalise the global economy too!

*grin* I guess I better start using it, no matter what the specifics of my project, then.

Well, you plainly can't do this with ASP.NET, you surely know that ? You can host a web browser in a C# forms program and from there write code to do the postback that pushes the button.

When I want to load an RSS file using its URL, below error will be appeared:
A socket operation encountered a dead network [IP Number]
Maybe the problem is because of using a proxy server for internet connection. I've used Isa-Server to connect to internet. So I tried to use NetworkCredential but it can't solve the problem:
System.Net.NetworkCredential networkCredential = new System.Net.NetworkCredential(myUserName, myPassword, myDomain);
XmlUrlResolver xmlUrlResolver = new XmlUrlResolver();
xmlUrlResolver.Credentials = networkCredential;
XmlReaderSettings xmlReaderSettings = new XmlReaderSettings();
xmlReaderSettings.XmlResolver = xmlUrlResolver;
XmlReader xmlReader = XmlReader.Create(txtRssUrl.Text.Trim(), xmlReaderSettings);
How can I load an RSS file using its URL?

What is not working ?
You need to add this three thing on GridView1_PageIndexChanging events
GridView1.PageIndex = e.NewPageIndex ;
GridView1.DataSource = Ds;
GridView1.DataBind();
