Well, your options are:
1 - use a mailbox to deliver orders. You could investigate a custom mail program that recieves the mails and does whatever you want with them
2 - write a webservice and then write a fat client program that calls the webservice regularly to find any new orders, then again, you can do what you want with them
3 - ( this is the worst idea ) use AJAX to write a site that keeps pinging for orders
The thing is, a fat client app, however it works, will be far easier to write and maintain for the restaurant, the web page only makes sense as a way of exposing the client side to users.

You should always use TryParse, b/c your users can enter values that are not valid. Apart from that, you need to tell users what format you expect.

I posted a message in the Web Browser forum. If anyone that is familiar with IE CSS compatibility issues would care to, I could really use the help.

Are you serious?
The problem has been resolved, so you don't have to bother with it.

I want to bind my gridview with a table in session(not from database). Can I provide th inline editing facility(as provided by using sqlDatasource). ie when i click edit a text box appears in grid view to enter the value.
Is it possible.
Kindly help me.
|
|

You would need to store the table in the session, b/c it needs to persist between postbacks, that's what the data base is for, usually.

You can easily bind a table in session by casting it i.e
grid.datasource = (DataTable)Session["Datatable"];
grid.databind();
And providing inline editing is also possible.

Of course it, however, it is extremely bad taste to say this here.

Have you thought it might be being blocked my the server or the mail client? You don't even have any logging in the try/catch, how do you know an exception isn't being thrown?
only two letters away from being an asset

I created a simple textbox with an access key however, when I try to use Alt + Z focus is not being “assigned” to that control. Has this issue occurred to anyone else?
<asp:button id="Button1" runat="server" text="Button" accesskey="Z" xmlns:asp="#unknown" />
Environment notes
-------------------
ASP.NET 3.5
Visual Studio 2008 sp1 on win xp sp 3
Mozilla firefox 3.0.5

I've not heard of the AccessKey, but the properties are case sensitive, did you spell it right ?

Thanks... well I tried changing the value from "Z" to "z", however, the controls do not get focus when I use Alt + z, although using the focus method programmatically works i.e. Button1.Focus().
Any idea where my mistake is?

Hi,
I've developed a class for showing a confirm message box.(I just show it!)
It has 2buttons : Yes and No.
I have 2 questions:
1. How can I pause execution of code until get back the user click (Yes or No button), it's in the middle of a method.
2. How could I recieve the result of click (which one was clicked)?
I need a functionality just like Windows MessageBox that I can read the result of click in 'if' and continue my method based on it
Best wishes

It's in the middle of a method ? Sounds to me like it's in C# or VB.NET and not in javascript. If that's the case, I recommend you buy a book on ASP.NET and read it, because your code is useless. It will show a message box on the server.
If that's not what you meant, then try explaining it a little better.
mehrdadc48 wrote: How could I recieve the result of click (which one was clicked)?
OK, perhaps this is javascript code after all. Well, why don't you look at how other people have solved the problem ? I would presume one way is for the popup to be a div with two buttons, and each button, when pressed, will hide the div. So, just use a variable to store which was pressed. And, I suspect the way that sites block the rest of the page while showing such a div is to put a semi transparent div over the top of the screen first, which blocks access to other controls.

Certainly you've worked with windows MessageBox.
I need something like that in web.
In my server-side code, I could Show it and wait for user action (Yes/No) and based on user selection I execute suitable code.
If you show a message box in windows App, and you put the result in an If, your code will Stop till read the rsult; Do you get the point
Best wishes

Use Javascript's Alert[^] function or VBScript's MsgBox[^] function.

1 - it's not ASP, it's ASP.NET. They are different
2 - you can't show a message box in C#, because C# runs on the server.
3 - don't use VBScript unless you only want your site to work in IE
So, use javascript ( someone said that, I wanted to just clarify some points )
