Let me guess - first day at work, and you therefore do not know anything about programming ? I suggest you buy a book on ASP.NET and one on SQL and you read them.

Hey guys,
this is probably a stupid question... I'm not very active in web dev so please just bare with me
Here are two screen shots of web pages that have been zoomed out Code Project Zoomed Out[^] and Facebook Zoomed Out[^]
The site I'm developing is like CodeProject zoomed out, how do i get it to look like an "actual page" as per the facebook zoomed out screen shot?
I'd google it, but what the hell would i search for??

I would say that the zooming is more of a browser feature than the web page. The browser will take the page as it looks and zoom out, but for the webpage the window size remains the same. At least that's the way I see it in IE 7.

The question isn't really about the zooming out, the effect I need it just more apparent that way.
Did you look at the screen shots? See the difference?

harvey isn't that dependent on how you write the containing div for the page?
if you make it 100% width it scales and stretches ... if you fix the width and center it you would get the 2nd example afaik
"mostly watching the human race is like watching dogs watch tv ... they see the pictures move but the meaning escapes them"

Yes, CP looks smaller and stretches all over the window, while Facebook just looks smaller proportionally.
I tried zooming CP (with IE 7) to 75% and I get somehting smilar to your FB screenshot: it doesn't fill the entire window. That's why I say that it might be the browser more than the HTML you use.
[EDIT: This[^] is how I see CP at 50%]

Hi,
I am completely new to generating reports in SSRS in ASP.NET and C#.I have generated a report successfully. Now what I need is I dont dont want to show any columns or fields in the report when there is no data.
The requirement is very urgent. So I request a quick reply from any one who knows solution to this.

select column and go to properties, then select visibility and put in Hidden
=IIF(Fields!NameOfColumn.Value=0,True, False)
|
|
|
|
|
There is no "COLUMN" visibility property. There is a row visibitly property and there is a cell specific visibility property. Not for COLUMN!
|
|
|
|
|
If you select column, go to properties, select visibility property and underneath Visibility Select Hidden and select Expression from drop down list box.

Doing this, will require code...
I would imagine you'd use a repeater to build a menu from a data source, and if the pages are dynamic, build a single page that takes a query string and requests a page from the database. Beyond that, it's impossible to help you based on the (lack of) information you provide here.

give your menu datasource property to datatable you are taking from database

Sessions DO NOT end when a user closes their browser. There is no communication with the server when a browser is closed so there is no way the server can know to end the session. The same is true when you leave the site for another. Again no communication takes place between your browser and the site you're leaving so the server never knows you've left.
Basically the only solution I know of is to set up a client-side event to call a server-side script to abandon the session when the user leaves.
Anyone knows how to write a javascript to end a session when the browser is being closed?
Any help will be appreciated!

You fire off an AJAX message on the event that fires when the form closes. Then you accept that even this is not foolproof, so you still write timeout code rather than assume the user stays logged in until that message arrives.

install the service in your system. start the service.
Click the "Tools" tab in Microsoft Visual Studio project.
Click "Attach To Process" option. it will be show a list of services running in your system.
Locate your service name and double click it. It will attach debugger to your service. Now when your service will run you will be able to debug it in your VS.Net project.

Hi,
I hav a grid view control which fires an event,that link button has been kept in a update panel.
The action in link is to add a record to a user control which is in the master page.
The adding action is executed properly but the control doesnt get refreshed since its in the master page.I used triggers to call the load of that user control but it isnt get refreshed.
Also enabled partial rendenting for the scriptmaneger
<asp:updatepanel id="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" xmlns:asp="#unknown">
<contenttemplate>
<triggers> <asp:asyncpostbacktrigger controlid="ucCTray" eventname="Load">
<triggers>
ucCTray is the user control in master page which is made visible false initially,but has to be made true when records r present. which is wht the link action is all about.
Please help with any solution or clue
Regards
Nitin
