There are many timeouts that can appear in a web.config file. Did you set the correct one?

Do you have InProc session? Is the app domain recycling frequently?

Rather that doing the things in first step, first of all you need to know why you are doing that.
Did you gone through the Colin's question?

Then that's your problem. You are using the default session state settings which is InProc time-out after 20 minutes.

QueryStrings should never come in to the equation for authentication/authorisation in my opinion.
Have a search on the internet for "ASP.NET Forms authentication" that will put you in the right direction.

Yeah there is, it's called SQL, so this is a SQL question. Of course, you need to time stamp your data.

Hi,
i am searching the way to bound / unbound one Dropdownlist which is inside a detailsview EditItem Template. I figure it would be something like:
SelectedValue='<%# (Eval("Tipo") == "CU") ? Eval("Descripcion") : (Unbound) %>'
Of course, "(Unbound)" is fake and doesn't work. This second part of the condition is the one i don't know how to specify.
Can it be done this way? if not, is there another one, maybe in Design View?
Thanks!

The Datasource for my gridview is MemberShip.GetAllUsers().
Along with the BoundFields, i added a CommandField and set the option 'ShowEditButton' to true.
when i click on the 'edit' command on the grid, the fields in the grid do not change to edit mode.
My application executes the RowEditing event, but the grid display does not change to edit mode!
Is it because, the datasource is neither sqldatasource nor it is implementing iList interface?
Thanks,

after setting the EditIndex, you still have to reload your GridView component, so bind the data again.
In Word you can only store 2 bytes. That is why I use Writer.

I have an subreport in the details section of main report. My dataset for subreport have 12 records it prints 3 records and then miss the fourth one on page 1 and on page two it starts from record 5 don't know why?
Fourth record misses everytime at the end of the page1.if i reduce some data in record 3rd it gets printed.

Hi
I have a Microsoft Web ReportViewer Control and I don't want to use print button of toolbar.
Instead I've created a byte array of report content, how can I print this byte array?
I don't want to show a file and in the file I user prints the report.
I want tp print the byte array directly
Best wishes

What is the content of this byte array? If it contains the report formatted with HTML tags, you can use Response.BinaryWrite(YourByteArray) . Then use RegisterClientScript() method and emit JS window.print which will print the window.

Hi
I have created my own browser in Visual Studio (in other words it is an instance of IE), but what I am looking for advice and assistance is how can you create a control which if the user isn't using the browser that it closes down.
This is a browser that will be sitting on an Intranet not the Internet, though!
Thanks

Closes the control? If yes you have some understanding problem of how ASP.NET works. If you just have to logout the user upon inactivity, try the following steps
1 - Record users last request time.
2 - Use JS setTimeOut[^] method and call a method which request a ASPX page which returns you the last request time of the current user.
3 - Compare this time, and call the logout page if necessary.

hi
im doing an asp.net website with a login system for its users. i used a table in sql to maintain a record of user details.when a user logs in , i set a flag to 1 and when they click the logout button , the flag is set back to 0. my problem is if the user closes the browser window or for some reason the system crashes , that user still remains logged in. i have 2 go to the database and set the flag. please suggest some way to solve my prob. thanx

There are many ways to do this.
1 - Handle the session_end event and reset the DB flag there. This event gets fired when session timed out and will happen even user closes browser (not immediately). Works only on InProc session mode.
2 - Create a new column in table which has the user's last request time. Write a SQL job which runs frequently, checks the last request time and update the flag if necessary.

Hi
You excuse my ignorance on this, but I am looking for someone to help me with the Object Tag or Active X to put it another way!
What I am trying to do is to display a word doc in ASP.Net, but I am unable to do and none of the examples I have found on the Internet work. So, can someone kindly assist me by talking me through what to do? Is there some other control that I need to install or plug in I need?
Thank you
