Hi,
I have vs2008/dotnet3.5 installed on my system(Winxp sp2). If i run a web application with dotnet framework 3.5, it gives the error 'compiler executable file csc.exe cannot be found'. If i change the dotnet frmwork from proj properties, the build is successful. But i need to run the app under framework 3.5. Any soulution of the above error.
Thanks in advance.

It happens on some machines with XP, Vista but does not on others.
Web site installer simply interrupts. In msiexec log those strings happen. What is the reason of aspnet_regiis.exe failure?

It's quite self explainatory. Go to Visual Studio Command Prompt and do this:
Step 1:
aspnet_regiis -u
Step 2:
aspnet_regiis -i
Step 3:
Now try to deploy/use installer.
If you are unable to find the utility 'aspnet_regiis', try at this location (as per your error log):
c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\

Check if the target .NET framework version is installed on the server/machine where you are tying to deploy the web application. It might be possible that the target .NET framework version is not installed on that machine. If that is the case then install the required framework using the redistributable and proceed with the website installation.
If the target .NET framework is installed then, check if the target framework's ASP.NET libraries are registered on the machine/server's IIS. If not then register the ASP.NET libraries using aspnet_regiis of the respective framework. Check the tool's documentation @ ASP.NET IIS Registration Tool (Aspnet_regiis.exe)[^]
If the required .NET framework is installed and ASP.NET libraries are registered in IIS and still this error is thrown then check the default version of .NET framework that is configured in IIS. If it is not the desired version then create the necessary virtual directories / websites and set the target .NET framework manually and then proceed with the website install. Ensure that you use the new virtual directories / website for the installation.
HTH!

I have a DropDownList which is specified in the Triggers section of an UpdatePanel. However, I still have to set AutoPostBack=True on the DropDownList to get it to trigger a postback. Is this normal behavior? It seems to me if the DropDownList is specified as a trigger, you shouldn't have to deal with the AutoPostBack attribute.

Yes! Normal behaviour it is.
Lonnie Raffray wrote: It seems to me if the DropDownList is specified as a trigger, you shouldn't have to deal with the AutoPostBack attribute
No. Triggers are indicators to Update Panel of how they need to react to a certain postback/update.
If implemented as you say, then AutoPostback property would have no use at all when used with a control placed in a UpdatePanel and why would anyone want to create such situation where a certain property's value is of no use! Ignoring that attribute would make no sense and create confusion.
If needed, read about triggers and update panel behaviour here:

I am not sure I clearly understand your question. But one suggestion when it comes to deciding how and where to deploy your application, espeically if you want to plan for scalability, is to consider Windows Azure:

Azure supports both ASP.NET and PHP.

Hi,
We upgraded from 4.6.2 to 4.9 recently. All is working well, it seems, except for the login / authentication module. When attempting to login, no username/password box appears and instead we are greeted with a module load warning:
Module Load Warning
One or more of the modules on this page did not load. This may be temporary. Please refresh the page (click F5 in most browsers). If the problem persists, please let the Site Administrator know.

Go to the module setting and check the login module is available or not. You can try with re-register the module. ( Uninstall and install it again )
Thanks !

I've successfully created an xls import (using the wizard) via SSMS and saved it in sql under msdb on the sql server. I'm able to see it and run it via the sql integration services under stored packages/msdb successfully. The import package locates and retrieves the xls file automatically (no variables - it's always saved and named the same)
I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to run the package through asp.net via an sql stored procedure. I've been futzing with it a bit trying different things... nothing working yet, I keep getting at -1. Can anyone help me out? I've read the articles, but I'm a bit lost.
The .net is:
Dim cmd As New Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand("gme.dbo.sp_housingImport", cn)
cmd.Connection.Open()
myReturn = (cmd.ExecuteNonQuery)
Response.Write("myReturn=" & myReturn.ToString)
Stored procedure:
DECLARE @ServerName NVARCHAR(100)
DECLARE @cmd NVARCHAR(4000)
DECLARE @jid UNIQUEIDENTIFIER
DECLARE @jname NVARCHAR(128)
DECLARE @jobName NVARCHAR(128)
DECLARE @FileLocation as varchar(500)
-- Create a unique job name
SET @ServerName = CONVERT(sysname, SERVERPROPERTY(N'myServerName'))
SET @jname = CAST(NEWID() AS CHAR(36))
SET @jobName = @jname
SET @FileLocation = 'E:\\myfolder\excel.xls'
--set the name and location of the ssis package to run.
SET @cmd = '"F:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\DTS\Binn\DTExec.exe" '
SET @cmd = @cmd + '/DTS "\MSDB\housingImport" '
SET @cmd = @cmd + '/SERVER ' + @ServerName + ' '
SET @cmd = @cmd + '/CHECKPOINTING OFF '
-- Specify ssis variable value in the package that represents the location of the input file to load
SET @cmd = @cmd + '/SET "\Package.Variables[User::varInputFile].Value";"' + @FileLocation + '" '
-- Create job
EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_add_job
@job_name = @jname,
@enabled = 1,
--@category_name = 'housingImport',
--deletes the job when it is done, regardless of whether or not it was successful
@delete_level = 3,
@job_id = @jid OUTPUT
--Add the job to the Sql Server instance
EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_add_jobserver
@job_id = @jid,
@server_name = '(local)'
--Add the step to the job that invokes the ssis package
EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_add_jobstep
@job_id = @jid,
@step_name = 'Execute DTS',
@subsystem = 'CMDEXEC',
@command = @cmd
-- Start job
EXEC msdb.dbo.sp_start_job @job_id = @jid

Vuyiswa Maseko,
Thanks for the reply.
Tried to follow these two articles:
http://www.dotnetfunda.com/articles/article786-how-to-execute-ssis-packages-in-csharp-aspnet--part-i-.aspx[^]
http://www.dotnetfunda.com/articles/article795-how-to-execute-ssis-packages-in-csharp-aspnet-part-ii-.aspx[^]
And I'm still having problems. I went back using BMI and created the package. Executes fine. Went into VS2008, and ran the following code:
Try
Dim pkg As New Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Package
Dim app As New Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application
'Dim sResultDts As DTSExecResult
pkg = app.LoadPackage("F:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\DTS\Packages\housingImport2\housingImport2\Package1.dtsx", Nothing)
pkg.Execute()
Catch ex As Exception
Response.Write(ex.ToString)
End Try
I have no rows in my table and no error written to the screen. If I go into the SQL Mgmt Studio under Integrations Services, store packages, file system, housingImport2, housingImport2 and run package1.dtsx, I get 89 rows.
Any help?

Good Evening janetb99
Does your package Accept any parameters ?
If you run your package from SQL as a job it runs fine. I suggest you stepinto the code and debug it and see when it fails and tell me if it go through the exception.
One more thing i see you have used a different class for exception try to mimic my code a little bit and use
catch (DtsException ex)
and you will see there is somewhere in your code where it will give an exception.
Vuyiswa Maseko,

I have created my reference.cs and Reference.svcmap from a wsdl file without having the site. While I can see under service references the service name however I can't open it in the browser. Can I create a site in my localhost just from the wsdl? If yes then how can do it?
Thanks

First, wsdl as a title is insufficient. Keep the subject line brief, but descriptive.[^]
gerom77 wrote: Can I create a site in my localhost just from the wsdl?
You apparently need to learn much more about web services. No, you can't create a site from a wsdl file. This file is generated by the service to describe its functions.

Thanks for that Mark,
Sorry I am new to it.
Mark Nischalke wrote: You apparently need to learn much more about web services. No, you can't create a site from a wsdl file. This file is generated by the service to describe its functions.
Does it mean if I call the functions inside the reference.cs will not work? How can I test it then?
At the botton of the wsdl has the following end point
<wsdl:service name="ProcessflowServiceService">
<wsdl:port name="Processflow" binding="impl:ProcessflowSoapBinding">
<wsdlsoap:address location="http://localhost:8080/Work/services/Processflow"/>
</wsdl:port>
</wsdl:service>
What is the use of it if I can't create it under my localhost?
Thanks again

gerom77 wrote: Does it mean if I call the functions inside the reference.cs will not work?
How did you obtain this wsdl file?
If the service is not available at the location specified then of course it won't work
If you have a webservice or WCF application at http://localhost:8080/Work/services/Processflow, then yes, you can test it, if not, you need to create the service at that location.
Have you done any research on web services at all?

Thanks again Mark,

It was send to me via email, so I put it into my c: drive and that way I have created the proxy

Can I create it based on wsdl?Is it possible?
Mark Nischalke wrote: Have you done any research on web services at all?
Yes, but this is my first time I try to use web services from wsdl
Your help is much appreciated
