I have been given the task to upload a few large files in a new project. Files sizes will be no more than 200MB.
I have been doing my research on the best approach to uploading these files to the server.
I was just wondering if anyone out there has tried to implement something similiar and has any advice to give?
Ideally I would like to split the file into seperate files to upload and then re-combine on the server.
Any comments are greatly appreciated.

My 2 cents:
1) Maybe implement the solution using FTP. Have your client use FTP to a predtermined location and process it from there.
2) Investigate 3rd Party controls that are designed specifically to upload large files.
Good luck.

Thanks David,
These are the kind of solutions we have been looking into.
Thanks for your input much appreciated.

in your web.config file state:
<httpRuntime maxRequestLength="300000"/>
this line is placed in the section:
<system.web>
In Word you can only store 2 bytes. That is why I use Writer.

how to fix the file web.config

Do you have Global.asax in your application..?? are you doing "Server.ClearError();" anywhere for exception handling..??

have you defined an authentication tag in the web.config of a folder inside the root ? The authentication tag can only exist in the root web.config
|
|
|
|
|
Duplicate Authentication tags here - you have the same on line 50 and 52, both set to different values - that won't fly at all.
C# has already designed away most of the tedium of C++.

Hi Experts,
I am showing a alert in code level like,
Page.RegisterStartupScript("Error", "<script language=javascript> alert('Error while validating the imported CRF Mapping excel! Check the imported file for more Error Messages ');</script>");
My requirement is, i want to generate a excel file after clicking ok button in the alert but when i write the code below the RegisterStartupScript then both the alert and then file generation is done at the same time. I want to generate the file only after i click ok in alert. Any sugession are highly appreciated!!!!!!!
|
|
|
|
|
What is the error you are getting?
I would suggest, instead of using RegisterStartupScript, use alert on client side event only. And onClick of "Ok" from alert, post back to the server and generate the excel file.
Is it helping you? If not, please elaborate your question.

AS the reason of page life cycle of asp.net, so if you generate the excel file in the backend using C#,it will works out the excel first then the alert.
you needn't put the alert phrase into the backend,just write it on the frontend , using a function to to represent it,alertme for example , then in the asp.net button ,you just register the following code :
onclientclick="alertme();"
best regards...thx
I can do!

Did you mean to use confirm instead of alert ?
Use a hidden field to store a flag variable, After the alert statement (or confirm as the case may be), set the flag and submit the page using JavaScript (window.forms[0].submit). In the code behind Page_Load event, check for the flag and generate the file.

Obviously, the connection to the web service is timing out. It could be a configuration error. Unless you are more specific and show us some code, we cannot help you.

We have a vb6 project and planning to migrate to vb.net using visual studio.
Googled it, but could not get proper result for it.

Please try the VB forum, this.
Migration has been made many of times I'm sure, but for any reasonably sized project I doubt the conversion can be fully automatic.

In most cases I've seen it wasn't worth migrating from VB6 to VB.NET. Redesign and re-engineer the application to make use of better methodologies available with .NET
