You've been waiting for roughly 90 minutes at this point. Have some patience. The people who answer on this forum to do freely and voluntarily. They do not get paid for helping, they do so in their free time because they want to help. Treat these people with respect!
If you want a faster result then may I suggest a paid service where you pay money for someone to give you a faster response. If you want it for free then you have to wait until someone can help you. And it does not help your case when you make ungrateful comments like "i'm still waiting..."

His activities are perfectly justified! For discouraging txtspk on the forums I could almost kiss him/her! I'll admit I dont see too many technical answers, but I also dont see him being rude and abusive as you have just been above
You have:
Repeatidly posted how "urgent" this is.
posted entire sentences in UPPER CASE (which online is akin to SHOUTING)
Been rude and abusive to another poster
Not even had the decency to put a clickable link when you want to refer people to another page.

There are a couple of things needing to be clarified:
+ Which authentication mode are you using? More information about your authentication setting could help.
+ What does your sample code look like?
+ What is the actual error as the "An operations error occurred" does not give much information?

Thanks alot for helping me out...
I will clarify my question. I am very much new n young to this field.... so, I'm not sure if I can explain it clearly.
I am using the "Windows" Authentication mode
In the web.config file the mode is set to
<authentication mode="Windows">
<identity impersonate="true">
as well as
<authorization>
<allow users="*">
<deny users="?">
In the IIS, the authentication method is set as "Integrated Windows Authentication".
.....................................
Here is the code that is throwing errors while running the application in "Mozilla" browser.
public static string getADSILoginName(string userName,string filter,string keyName)
{
string dName=ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings["domainName"];
string appPath;
appPath = "LDAP://" + dName;
DirectoryEntry entry = null;
entry = new DirectoryEntry(appPath);
DirectorySearcher getSearcher = new DirectorySearcher(entry);
getSearcher.Filter = "("+filter+"=" + userName + ")";
try
{
foreach(SearchResult result in getSearcher.FindAll())
{
DirectoryEntry dirEntry = result.GetDirectoryEntry();
foreach(string key in dirEntry.Properties.PropertyNames)
{
foreach( object propVal in dirEntry.Properties[key] )
{
if(key == keyName)
{
return Convert.ToString(propVal);
}
}
}
}
}
catch(Exception ex)
{
throw(ex);
}
return "";
}
............................................
Here is the exact error message
An operations error occurred
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: An operations error occurred
Source Error:
Line 463: catch(Exception ex)
Line 464: {
Line 465: throw(ex);
Line 466: }
Line 467: return "";
.....................................
I am not sure if I have made it clear...
Thanks & regards

How do you call the getADSILoginName method? Which value do you pass to the method in the userName parameter? Here, you are using the Windows authentication mode, so I guess that you may want to authenticate the user based on the log-on account againts the Active Directoty of the specified domain. And the user which you may use to pass in to the method is the HttpContext.Current.User (or use the WindowsIdentity to get the current identity). So in the case of Mozilla, you may try to debug your application, check the username value and compare it with the value when IE is used (I guess it's empty in the case of Mozilla). Basically, when you configure to use the Integrated Windows authentication at the IIS, the IE can automatically sends the current log-on account to the server for the authentication, but it won't happen with the Mozilla, and it requires you to configure in the user config file of the browser. If this is the case, you can see this site[^] as an example on how to set it.
Btw, you need to encrypt the < and > or check the "..." checkbox when you post a message as I couldn't see the authentication and authorization settings.

You are my hero!!!! You are great!!!!
Once I changed the user config file of the browser, the issue was resolved.
I am really thankful to you and do not know how to express my sincere thanks to my dear dot.net specialist.
Please do continue this good work....
One more question: My application is on a remote machine and if I want to access it through the network, what should I specify instead of "localhost" in the user config file (Mozilla). For example, the server name is "jack" in which the application is installed and if i want to access the application throughout the network, what should I do? I tried "remotehost", but did not help.
Is there any other solution to change the browser settings during runtime? I meant, coding in the .net page to change the user config file of the browser.
God bless
Thanks & thousands of thanks
Truly a fan of yours....

Glad to hear it's working for you .

The uri may look something like : http://jack for the entire jack server. You might also have a look at the documentation of the right version of the browser for the correct configuration.

I don't think you can programmatically set the user settings as it should belong to the user. If it's possible, then IMO there must be a hole of security there. Would you want a web page to change your configurations in your machine when you launch it in the browser?

Thanks once again....
1) I can run the project fine by changing the user config file to localhost as you suggested in my machine.
What should I set in the user config file of Mozilla browser(in other machine) instead of "localhost", to access the http://rijjjesh/project1/testpage.aspx without any errors from another machine?
Should I change the value or keeping it as "localhost" will work?
I want a web page to change the user configurations of the browser once it is loaded.... is it possible?
I am not sure if I have made it clear...
thanks & regds

There are a couple of options:
+ Use frame
+ Use resizable panels, you can check out some custom controls below which may give you an idea:

You once said in your first post is that you wanted to develop a custom splitter control, now that I guess you have an idea on how to implement your own custom control, and you may consider sharing it here when it gets done, I'll be really appreciated for this .

Hi
i have a drop down list with a few items and depending on the item that is selected it sets a few "option" variables different values.
The problem is: in the page_load method depending on user input i change the DropDown.SelectedValue = "bla"; but this does not FIRE the event handler - it only fires when i change it in the actual drop down list through the UI - how do i make it fire when i do this in code as well?!

Hi you can make an explicit call to the event handler for SelectedIndexChange of your dropdownlist
It will solve the problem
Thanks,

Hi All,
We are looking to refactor some backend code with an asp.net app. In our Bus/data objects we are returning datareaders. We heard that this is a bad practice to use. We are planning on using the MS Ent Lib 2.0 . Which is the preferred method to return data to pages using Ent Lib?
Thanks,
Jamming J

Depends! Usually a DataSet/Table with the info from the database.

Hi
Whatever i add to a textbox.Text persists during a postback but other stuff i fetch from the Database that isn't shown to the user, how am i supposed to persist it without using Session[] variables.
i tried using global variables in the aspx page but they are cleared it seems.
I have a lot of session variables already and its getting confusing!
thanks for your help.

Hi,
You should use session only when you have to persit data between more than one page.
Otherwise if it is related to only one page, you can fetch data from database and store it into a html hidden control, ie, <inpupt type="hidden" runat="server">. Data stored in server side html hidden cotrols are persisted during a postback.

Hi,
I don't know how it happened. I posted the answer but it was posted by someone else name. The data is also not proper. So I'm posting it again.
