set the custom errors mode to Off and you would get a detailed error message that will help you to figure what the exception is.
Help people,so poeple can help you.

Newbie at .net programming. Laptop started having registry errors with every update. Re-imaged laptop. Copied database from production (source control used). Copied programs from laptop before reimage and reinstalled. Can't save SQL 2008 module to laptop and access from solution on .net. Trying to make reports. On .net side when I try to make a dataset and connect to stored procedure, I can't. I looked up about removing source control (Tools, Options on .net). Am still getting lower left screen references to source control and red X. Do all of the programs and solution parts need to be removed from source control before this will work? Tried to explain to boss was still having source control problems. Said I shouldn't be trying to do anything with source control. Removed Seapine source control from control panel. Still having issues. Is there a way to check everything out from source control? I cannot make a stored procedure and make dataset for it on .net side. Help!!

I suggest you use use the community forum at Seapine, or purchase the support package from them. They would better serve your computer installation issues.

Yes
Member 7786203 wrote: I cannot make a stored procedure and make dataset for it
This has nothing to do with source control and there is no mention of why you think that you are unable to create a stored procedure.
Member 7786203 wrote: connect to stored procedure, I can't
Not at all helpful or descriptive of any kind of problem.
Member 7786203 wrote: Am still getting lower left screen references to source control and red X
Which means absolutely nothing to anyone reading your rant.
Member 7786203 wrote: Do all of the programs and solution parts need to be removed from source control before this will work?
Something else that means absolutely nothing to anyone but you. Before what will work?
Member 7786203 wrote: Trying to make reports
"Trying" implies that you actually attempted something but nothing in your "question" mentions any kind of problem with reports so why do you even mention it?
Member 7786203 wrote: Help!!
With what? You have not defined any of the alleged problems that you are having. We cannot see your screen, read your mind or open up any of the files on your hard drive. The only thing we can know is that you claim that you are having problems without knowing what exactly those problems are. No errors, no exceptions, no code describing what you have done.

Again means nothing.

oh touche, that was a direct hit. I wanted to say that but I held back. I'm not sure how far I can push it here on the Code Project, and what the limits are.
I use to use the asp.net forum, and if you say just something slightly offending, they delete your post. It's like walking on egg shells over there. Pure PC and totally out of control.
There sure seems to be a flood recently of scattered minds looking for people to do research for them here on the Code Project. I guess the secrets out, and perhaps a line needs to be drawn in the sand between code slavery and actual real help.
FYI:
The majority of post on this discussion can be Googled, and an answer can be obtained in as little as 30 seconds.
Good for you, oh that string to byte question, I thought I would just let the poster simmer for awhile on that one. I can't believe you gave him the answer.

That is pretty much 24/7. It is no coincidence that these types of questions start popping when a certain part of the world is in their daylight hours.
jkirkerx wrote: can be Googled
Yep... and those are the ones that get the bare minimal amount of help. IF they post something that stick to the guidelines showing that they have actually tried something, they get the real help. There is one guy in the QA section right now that has no idea what he is doing. He posts the same question over and over and pretty much his only response to answers is "it don't work". But it's very clear that he doesn't know anything about programming and refuses to try understand any of the answers. If he can't copy/paste code into his homework then he is off to post another repost.
jkirkerx wrote: you gave him the answer
Sometimes the functions that they need to use are not immediately obvious. So I gave him the benefit of a doubt.

Those are some good guidelines for me to follow. I didn't think of it like that.
I like the daylight reference.

GetBytes(yourString);

I am using resx for localisation the language. My reqt is when i change the data in grid view then it also update the resx file as i am populating the grid from resx file only, not by database.

Not clear!
RESX files are static files where you define all the strings that needs to be localized. Once done, you refer those localized string from RESX file everywhere in your application.
There is no connection of updating datagrid internally updating RESX file.

Looks like you have mismatched Crystal versions or wrong reference in case of multiple version.
Have a look at this similar thread discussion that is marked resolved: Parser Error Message: The base...[^]

Is this possible to create your own design of an event calendar using a Visual Basic.net for web development?

Of course you can. .NET is largely language agnostic, which is just a fancy way of saying if you can do it in one .NET language, you can do it in another.
