So I tried adding .htm, .html, and even .* to the mapping configuration in IIS to aspnet_isapi.dll and have a httpHandler to handle .htm and .html files like this:
<br />
<httphandlers><br />
<add type="Project.HttpHandlers.HtmExtensionHandler, Project.HttpHandlers" path="*.htm, *.html" verb="*"><br />
</add><br />
</httphandlers><br />
But when I type in something.html I get a 404 page from IIS (not .net), when I attach the debugger to the asp.net worker process it never goes into the http handler.
Is there some reason why IIS won't give these requests to .net? I have also tried with my own made up extensions, but nothing. If I put a blank index.htm file in place and request index.htm then it goes through the handler as expected.
I've also tried using an HttpModule to set up an event handler on BeginRequest to rewrite the path, but the HttpModule also never gets called if there is no place holder file. Last modified: 16mins after originally posted --

Use the "Ignore HTML" option when you are posting markup code in the forum.

That's better. Now I can see what the error is.
You can't specify more than one path in the path property. You have to add two keys in the httpHandlers tag, one for "*.htm" and one for "*.html" .

hi guys,
I have web application project that list applications and the user should be able to click on one application
to lunch it.
the problem is IE and firefox will show message says (open , save , cancle) and the user must choose one of the option. I want to force the browser to lunch the application with out asking this question yo the user.
I am using asp.net 2.0.
thanks in advance ....

You can't do that.
It might be possible to change the mappings in the browser, so that it starts a program without asking. But then you would have a browser with a huge security hole right through it, which makes it practically unusable for browsing the web.

I heard that it is possible to configure the MIME setting to do this????
|
|
|
|
|
Yes, that was what I was talking about. Making the browser run executables without warning makes it unfit to browse the web.

Hi,
How can I have user control to populate a list with different values when its property value changes at run time?
e.g I have Radio buttons :- Animals, birds, Mammles etc. outside the user control.
Based on radio button selected user control should populate values. I have created a property for user control to pass chosen radio option.

Hi,
I have the wizard control. O n each Wizard step I have put some code next I converted that wizard to templates like the below:
<stepnavigationtemplate>
<asp:button id="StepPreviousButton" runat="server" causesvalidation="False" commandname="MovePrevious" text="< Back">
<asp:button id="StepNextButton" runat="server" commandname="MoveNext" text="Next Step >">
Now I want to write separate code for each button click. For example I want to handle the StepPreviousButton click event. Where to handle that event.
In Wizard_ActiveStepChanged(..){

Hi all,
I'm newbie of ASP.NET, and i want to use Ajax in ASP.NET. But i realize that Ajax is supported in ASP.NET by ASP.NET AJAX. And if i want to use Ajax, i just put that control to UpdatePanel.
And i think the security of ASP.NET AJAX is better than i write a file with tranditional Ajax
Therefore, i don't know why should we learn Ajax when i have ASP.NET AJAX.
Please let me know why should i learn Ajax?
|
|
|
|
|
Well the reason you should learn AJAX .. is to know how AJAX works, This will help you understand why something is not behaving the way you want it to behave, also when trying to optimize performance in your applications, extending or creating new controls.

Well, it depends. Do you want to be a capable programmer, or just a reuser of libraries ? If you just have a need to create something and walk away from it, use Microsoft's library. If you want to be able to optimise, to understand what is happening, and to have full control over the process, learn how to do it yourself.

You usually write server-side code in C# or VB.NET if you are using ASP.NET. You can write the code in other languages but these are the most integrated into ASP.NET. There are a lot of books and articles available to reference their syntax.
