Hi,
I'm working on a project that would work like this:
A textbox would be on screen and once someone enters the name of a programmer in the textbox and hits the submit button, the jobs that they have to complete will display in a table. The table will have their job number, the description, and then would show the days of the week (monday, tuesday, etc.) and then the column after those would show the estimated hours for the project, then the number of hours they already completed and the last column would be the estimated hours minus the actual hours for the "hours left". Of course, any hours they added in the fields for the different days of the week would be added to the actual hours. So, for instance, the estimated hours for project was 120 hours but the actual number of hours they took to complete the project was 100 hours (total hours). Then the hours left would be 20 so that they finished the project 20 hours ahead of schedule.
I'm trying to use a Gridview control for the data but they would have to edit line by line and I would like to have them just enter the numbers in the fields for the days of the week and hit the submit button the update everything in their list of jobs. This sounds similar to a shopping cart although I've never built one of those either.
There is a table that has the programmer, jobs, estimated hours, actual hours. I don't have anything for the days of the week so I suppose I'll have to make a new table for that. My question is, is the Gridview control useful or is there another way?
I hope I was detailed enough in this.

hi,
I've created a login page and I added a link button on that page.
Due to authentication, I can't redirect to another page when I click on that link button until after I login.
here's what I wrote in the web.config file:
<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms loginurl="login.aspx" protection="All" defaulturl="login.aspx">
<authorization>
<deny users="?">
|
|
|
|
|
You have to set defaultUrl as the page that you redirect to.
Suppose that you redirect to index.aspx
<br />
<forms loginUrl="login.aspx" protection="All" defaultUrl="index.aspx"></forms><br />

It's not possible. It's the way FileUpload control has designed

Okay, so here's the progression of events...
1) I built an ASP.NET application last year in Visual Studio 2005 complete with a series of reports, all created in the built-in version of Crystal Reports.
2) Everything worked great for over a year. The reports functioned well and printed on demand.
3) I got a new development box with Vista on it, installed VS2005 and added SP1 (as well as the vista hotfix). That same day, I also applied Server 2003 Service Pack 2 to my production server - a sheer coincidence that complicates my troubleshooting of this problem significantly.
4) I made some changes and re-copied the majority of the site files to the production server using the "Copy Website" functionalty (I did this - like an idiot - to sync up my new VS2005 installation with the server so it would tell me when files needed to be updated).
5) Now, my reports don't print on any machines except mine and the server. As in, if I go to the website on IE from the server or my dev box, it works. Everywhere else you can open the report for viewing, but if you click the print button or try to export, one of two things happen.
a) On some machines, it thinks for a minute, then pops a message which reads:
Acrobat could not open ‘pdf9c9.tmp’ because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn’t correctly decoded).
In this scenario, the printable Adobe window never actually appears.
b) On other machines, the print window pops like it's going to work, but it just sits there - blank - and appears to keep trying to refresh. It will sit there all night if you let it (I have).
I've tried rebuilding the setup package and reinstalling it at the server. No matter what I do, I still can only print reports from my box and the server. At this point, I'm completely dead in the water, since I can't print any reports - which is the primary purpose for which my people asked me to create this stupid application. Can ANYONE help with this problem?
Thanks!

Check the "Ignore HTML" checkbox.

Hi, I am using AJAX to dynamically produce a DataList according to the input in a TextBox. I am using the 'OnTextChanged' event to achieve this and a problem that occurs is that I will lose focus in my TextBox as soon I begin to type anything.
An easy solution for this would be to remove the TextBox from the UpdatePanel but as I am using the UpdateProgress to produce a neat loading gif each time the OnTextChanged event occurs I have to keep the TextBox inside the UpdatePanel right?
I have seen a number of examples on the net which suggest using the LastFocus property but have had no luck getting that to work. Am I right in thinking that my problem cannot be solved with the LastFocus property as I also have an UpdateProgess in my code?
I am very new to ASP.NET and would highly appreciate any advice with this - my code is fairly large so I'll enclose a snippet of it, that will hopefully make my problem a bit clearer:
<asp:updatepanel id="upPnlLabels" runat="server">
<contenttemplate>
asp:TextBox ID="txtSearch" OnTextChanged="txtSearch_OnTextChanged" AutoPostBack="true" runat="server">
<asp:updateprogress id="upMyProgress" runat="server" associatedupdatepanelid="upPnlLabels">
<progresstemplate>

Use FTP? It sounds like you are trying to upload a asp.net site to a web host or something? Usually they have an ftp site that allows you to copy files.
Or are you asking about how to upload files on a asp.net web site?
