Hi,

Can anyone recommend a tool (free or cheap, online or desktop) to help build regular expressions, preferably with real-time highlighting of matches.

I've tried searching on this and I seem to get a hotchpotch of old links that are either broken, install adware or simply crash. There must be something decent out there. I'm prepared to reward the programmer with a reasonable fee if the app is okay.

Kind wishes - Patrick

Thank you for this. Just personal preference, but this one does exactly what I want with no fuss: http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/24040/RegEx-Tester-Regular-Expression-Tester?msg=4531244#xx4531244xx

I used Expresso when I designed this regex in the article:

That would not have been easy without some regex tester utility. I havent tried your suggestion, but it looks good.
There it is: http://www.weitz.de/regex-coach/[^]
I am using it for years.
