hi i need your help in a sharepoint portal for a company employees
when employee enter the portal and want to create a new list item his number will automatically appears in the "employee number" column in the list ,
how it could be done in sharepoint 2007

Do you mean when they login to the site? If so, this is a poor design. How will you tell if they have entered for the first time or the 15th time.

Information such as employee number can be stored in AD and accessed from within SharePoint via Profiles. There is no reason to create a list because the information already exists.

my portal designed to enable the employee request the company clinic form so he will request the form via the portal from his computer ,by filling the request list.how do you find this design please.

I don't want to sound flipant but you really need to learn more about SharePoint and how to properly use it before trying to develop for it. It is very easy for a beginner or novice to cause many problems that will be difficulty to recover from.
