My software deployment works fine when users are on the Firefox browser. However when they try to download or install using IE they are asked what program they would like to use to open the file.

The file name seems to have the name of the project/program with a .MAN extension.

Does anyone have a clue what might be causing it to try to open the manifest instead of just installing with the prerequisites?

If needed I can provide a link to a screenshot of the issue. You can also see for yourself if you like by going to www.elevatedwire.org and trying to download the automatic Ider project there.

This solution appears to be spam. I am well aware that this is a manifest file. There is nothing wrong with the windows operating system on these machines. They are test machines with nothing but the clean install.

99% of these quick scan fixes are a virus waiting to happen. I highly recommend against using this method.

It's not spam. Windows does not know what a .MAN file is so it asks the user.

Thanks for the clarification ryanb31. I'm still unsure why it is even seeing this at all. My first guess (and that is all it is) is that the deployment is requiring the .Net framework and pr-requisite files. When using Firefox the file simply downloads as intended, however when in IE it does just as you say and asks for a file to open it with. The problem seems at first glance to be in the way the two different browsers view the file.

I am not at all familiar with the .man file so maybe it is just something FireFox recognizes?
